Volunteering Program
The Mind4Youth Volunteering Program is a 6-week virtual program that involves a mental health curriculum and learning about various global health issues to learning how to manage your stress.
Week 1: Understanding Mental Health
Delve into the fundamental concepts of mental health. Gain an understanding the basics of mental health, exploring its meaning and its importance. Also discover the causes of mental illness and learn to distinguish the signs of good mental health vs poor mental health.
Week 2: Stigma and Advocacy
Learn the important topics of stigma and advocacy in mental health. Explore the damaging effects of stigma on individuals with mental health conditions and society as a whole. Through interactive discussions and activities, you will learn how to challenge stigma and become effective advocates for mental health awareness and acceptance.
Week 3: Mental Illnesses and Disorders
Dive into learning about different mental health conditions like anxiety disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. You will learn the symptoms of each condition and how they affect people’s lives as well as the factors that contribute to mental illnesses and how they impact relationships, work, education, and overall well-being.
Week 4: Case Studies
Engage in interactive case studies designed to deepen your understanding of real-life scenarios involving mental health challenges. Through these immersive exercises, you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in previous weeks to practical situations.
Week 5: Managing Stress and Anxiety
Explore strategies for managing stress and anxiety through interactive activities and lessons. You will learn practical techniques to identify stressors, regulate emotions, and cultivate resilience in the face of challenges.
Week 6: Final Project
In the final week, you will get to apply your learning to complete a project promoting mental health awareness. Through a creative initiative of your choice, you will be able to showcase your understanding and commitment to fostering positive change in your community.
